There are 250 households of which 150 households belong to Chantyal (Tibeto-Mongolian ethnic group) and the remaining to the Bishowakarma caste (blacksmiths). Some 200 years ago, Chantyal people would mine and the Bishowakarma people would process the ore into copper products. Today, both these tribes depend on agriculture and livestock for livelihood, but a few families of Bishwakarma still do metal work.
