Tent peak is one of the best climbing peaks in the Annapurna region of Nepal. Known for it being a relatively short climb this trip is highly recommended for adventurous trekkers who want to experience the mountaineering aspect of climbing some steep ridges. Tent Peak is considered less challenging than that of the Island and Mera Peak in the Everest region of Nepal. The views from the summit are just breathtaking, you will be in awe of the stunning 360 degree panorama views of the many peaks over 7000 and 8000 meters, including Annapurna 1, Annapurna 3, Annapurna south, Hiunchuli, Baraha Shikhar and Gangapurna. Best time to climb Tent Peak: March, April and May. October and November.

Ascent/Descent : 1000m Kms : 20 kms drive 10 kms walk Duration : 30 min drive 7 hrs walk

Hot and long initial climb from Phedi through forest of Sal tree about 2-2 ½ hrs walk we reach to Dhampus, it is very picturesque Gurung village with slate roofed houses. From Dhampus village ( 1700m ) is a scenic the views of entire Annapurna range with Machhapuchhere as compensation for the climb. Beyond Dhampus the trail goes through forest with Rhododendrons but it blooms only in spring probably, we stop at Pothana 1970m for lunch. We enter the forest again after lunch. There is trail branching left which also leads to Tolka on newly constructed road, it would be the best choice to avoid up and down from the old path.Finally after walking 2 ½ hrs we reach to Tolka (1800m ) today's destination.

As we leave the Tolka the trail descend down and cross a suspension bridge and continue through terraces with views of the Modi River canyon and the Annapurna South . Where there are lodges and Hot Spring. The climb continues beyond Jhinu in the afternoon sun hot and tiring crossing Taglung Village . Finally we reach a very large Gurung Village today's destination.

Today, a tough climb to Sinuwa (2340 m) after along descent at first, there after not very strenuous as trail goes through deep forests. We stop at Bambu (2340m) for lunch and continue climb crossing Dovan (2580 m) where there are 3 Lodges, the trail continues through forests of Oak, Rhododendron and Bamboo bush and a small shrine dedicated to the local Deity Baraha and just ahead two lodges of Himalaya today' destination .

At the beginning bushy forests, after Hinku Cave, the alpine terrain. We gain height because the trek is little Strenuous, with boulders. After the Cave, there is Avalanche gully but soon we reach to Deurali (3230m)where there are 4 lodges. Beyond Deurali we ascend a steep rocky slope and further, the trail is widening also this avalanche section. More mountains are visible, finally we can see Gangapurna Guest House in MBC in distance, our hotel is further up just a few minutes.

Initially, it is steep climb. We are truly now in the lap of the Himalayas. As we reach the grassy slopes, the grazing fields for sheep, we are enclosed with mountains all around and it is our climax of the trek. 6-9 days acclimatizing and climbing Tharpu Chuli

Tent Peak Base Camp 4250 m 4-5 hours depending upon season and weather condition. Ascent:150 m,Descend: 100 m . We have to cross the long glacier where it is difficult to walk. After then we need to climb to the tent base camp and spend the night there.

Trail is steep climbing all the way to the high camp. On our way we can view Annapurna Range, Machhapuchhre, Ganga Purna and Singha Chuli. We can spend a night at High Camp where we can settle the camp. We can walk around for the acclimatization and then can prepare our gears for next day summit.

Ascent/Descent : 715 m ascent/ 1455m descend Kms : 15 kms walk Duration : 8 hrs walk

We can start early morning (4 am) to summit the peak. Trail walk with iceaxe and rope, crampons follows with 1.5 hours rocky trail. Then there is 2 hours icey and khar pass gentle walk, then 1 hour blue ice steep climbing, then 45 minutes gentle icey trail, then an hour steep climb reach us on our destination of Tharpu/Tent Peak (5695m). We can cherish our achievement and can view around 360 degree mountains i.e. Annapurna Range, Machhapuchhre 6997m, Gangapurna 7454m, Dhaulagiri 8172m, Manaslu 8163 m, Ganesh Himal 7118m, Himlung 7126m, Tilicho and Kangaru 6981 m.

The time and distance depend on our pace . We will be going down the same route we came up.

Ascent/Descent : 400 Descent Kms : 15 kms walk Duration : 7-8 hrs walk

Ghandruk is a large fascinating Village with very good lodges and super views of Annapurna South Himchuli, Gangapurna and Machhapuchhere. To reach Ghandruk, we have to climb the steps from Chhomrong and after Chhomrong there is the trail intersection we should take the path that leads to Tadapani. The trail goes through terraced fields farmland, further again trail intersection. We should take left, head steeply down to Kimrong Khola (1810m), cross the suspension bridge over the Kimrong Khola. The climb is through forest and finally we reach the Komrong Danda (2250m) with Komrong village in distance further down, again we cross a suspension bridge over Kyunri Khola after 15 minutes we arrive Ghandruk.

Ascent/Descent : 1140 Descend Kms : 10 kms walk 42 kms drive Duration : 5-6 hrs walk 1.5 hrs drive

After exploring Ghandruk Village, we leave for Pokhara. Little further down, trail intersection, we should take the trail to the right one. On paved stairway, sometime we have to walk over landslides. Crossing a suspension bridge on a stream soon we reach the village of Kimche (1640m) with terraced fields and a few lodges, continuing steeply down twisting stairway. It is a long descend to Syauli Bazar and walk along the Birethanti Nayapul, finished walking, let's drive to Pokhara (42 kms). Bye Bye…

  • Total of two nights’ accommodation in Pokhara (before and after the trek) at 3 Sisters GH

  • Assistants, (maximum weight to carry is 12 kg for female assistant and 15 kg for male assistant).
