From Lobuche we head down for about 30minutes before taking the lesser travelled right branch before the main trail crosses the river. The path skirts around the ridge, offering fine views down to Ama Dablam, Pheriche, Taboche peak and Cholatse Tsho, staying mostly level before dropping into a wide side valley used as an approach to the trekking peak of Lobuche East. The trail then briefly climbs, descents again and then make the final short ascent to the village of Dzonglha (4830m). Hiking Hours: 4-5

Ascent/Descent : 570m ascent 570m descent Kms : 5kms / 3mls Duration : 4hrs

We can start early from Dzonglha to beat the clouds to the pass. At first it is gentle stroll as the trail runs east past a series of gloomy looking black boulders beneath the looming peak of Cholatse. At any stage on this walk, you can turn around to see Ama Dablam 6856m framed perfectly at the end if the valley. The destination is a low point in the rock wall at the end if the valley, but the route only becomes apparent as you approach the face. after crossing several streams, the trail rises, passing to the right of two claw-shaped peaks. make a steep, exhilarating scramble over boulders wedged against the edge of a soaring granite buttress. About 3 hours walk reach Cho La (5420m) marked by a tangle of prayers flags at the edge of the glacier. From here, we can view Cholatse, Ama Dablam, Ngozumpa Glacier, Pharilapche (6017m) and Kyajo Ri (6186m). Then descends into the Gokyo Valley is long and tedious, crossing a seemingly endless scree slope that is a minefield of loose stones cairns that mark the way. Then you will reach the grassy hillside below the rock fall. It's an easy walk on to Thagnag (4700m) reach after 3 hours walk from the pass, the landscape gets greener. It will take around 2 hours to climb all the way to the summit and you will be rewarded with a view of the Gokyo Lake III, the glacier you crossed yesterday, and Mount Everest from afar. From here, you can clearly see that Mount Everest is the highest among all, something you can't really tell when you are up close, look up. One hour easy down to Gokyo and spend the rest of the day. On the edge of the moraine to the east is a small hill, known as Scoundrel's view point (5000m) which offer fine view of Cho Oyu and the upper Ngo-Zumpa glacier.
